How to choose SUP paddles?

SUP paddles are paddles specifically designed for Stand Up Paddleboarding SUP. These paddles are typically longer than traditional canoe or kayak paddles and are designed to be used while standing on a paddleboard. You can buy SUP paddles from Jobe, Aztron, Aquatone, Nsp, and Goldenship. Tips to choose SUP paddles:

Paddle Length:
The correct paddle length is crucial for your comfort and efficiency. The right length depends on your height, the type of paddling you plan to do, and the boards width.
For flatwater paddling, a general rule of thumb is to choose a paddle that´s approximately 8 10 inches taller 20.32 cm to 25.4 cm than your height. This allows for efficient paddling and comfortable posture.
For surfing or whitewater paddling, you may opt for a slightly shorter paddle for increased maneuverability.
Blade angle: A higher blade angle will require a more vertical stroke, which can be more tiring but offer more power. A lower blade angle will be more horizontal and require less effort, but generate less power.
Paddle material: SUP paddles are typically made from different materials, each with its own characteristics:

Aluminum: Affordable and durable, but heavier.
Fiberglass: Lighter than aluminum and offers a good balance of durability and performance.
Carbon fiber: The lightest and most high performance material, ideal for advanced paddlers.

Shaft material: The material of the shaft can also impact the weight and durability of your paddle. Carbon fiber or aluminum shafts are lightweight and durable, while fiberglass or wood shafts may be heavier but more affordable.
Grip and handle: The grip and handle of your paddle should be comfortable and secure in your hand. Some paddles come with ergonomic grips or adjustable handles to fit different hand sizes.
