The RICOH G900 features a particularly robust housing. This makes the camera waterproof to a water depth of 20 m, cold-resistant to -10°C, pressure-resistant to 100 kg, break-proof from a drop height of up to 2.1 metres and protected against certain chemicals. This predestines the RICOH G900 for use in workplaces with often extreme environmental conditions, such as heavy rain, dirt and frost. With a state-of-the-art 20 megapixel CMOS sensor and a powerful image processor, brilliant photos and videos in 4K resolution are produced even under such conditions. A 5x zoom lens from 28 to 140 mm (KB equivalent) is available for a wide range of images. Six LED lights arranged around the lens provide sufficient light at short shooting distances. This can be very helpful, especially for experts or in the documentation of findings. The RICOH G900 is approx. 26% smaller than the predecessor model and, thanks to its optimized key positioning, also lies securely in the hand when the photographer has to concentrate on other things.

At second glance, the camera impresses above all with its comprehensive technical features for simplifying workflows in digital data management or for seamless connection to corporate networks, such as the intranet. With the camera memo functions and the already integrated barcode reading function, specific data can easily be linked to the images. In addition, the new G900 already has the GPS module firmly integrated and wireless data transmission can be carried out via WLAN using the optional FlashAirTM SD memory card. Improved camera memo functions and barcode scan mode for easy data management

The camera memo function of the G900 allows the user to attach a text (up to 100 items, up to 128 characters per item) or audio file (up to 30 seconds) previously created on the camera or computer to a recorded image. The camera memo function also makes it possible to search the monitor for reference images, such as a plan or blueprint. The desired subject can be previously selected from a list of up to 999 images.
In combination with the barcode scan mode, certain barcode information can also be easily added to the memo data. For example, patient image data for medical purposes or product data in merchandise management can be easily managed.
With the included EX2 software, image categorizations and file names can also be transferred to the camera´s memo data, which can significantly reduce the amount of work involved in organizing the files after recording. In addition, the export of stored XML data is also possible, which improves the interface to the database connection.

GPS functions for automatic transmission of position data

The G900 has a built-in GPS module. Position data and recording data can be recorded automatically parallel to the recorded images. This module can easily be activated by pressing the GPS button on the back of the unit, with a significantly shorter switch-on time than the previous model (approx. 1 minute with the camera switched off, approx. 20 seconds in sleep mode, approx. 3 seconds with the camera switched on). By coupling with the SBAS (Satellite Based Augmentation System), even more precise position data can be acquired at different locations and at different times. For indoor shots, the GPS Lock function can be used to transfer the previously captured position data to the images. In addition, an electronic compass can be used to determine the position.

Electronic spirit level for precise alignment of the camera

The electronic spirit level allows precise control of the horizontal and vertical orientation of the camera, which is important when shooting objects from an oblique position, for example.

4K resolution for high-resolution film recording

With a resolution of 3,840 x 2,160 pixels in H.264 recording format at 30 frames per second, the G900 offers high-resolution film recording in 4K quality and thus the best prerequisites for video documentation. To reduce camera shake during filming, the G900 features a Movie SR Mode1 (Shake Reduction) and a Movie SR+ Mode1, which creates a special shake reduction effect similar to the use of a camera stabilizer. This allows, for example, to capture shots of the camera when mounted on a drone in optimal display and quality.

Reference Image Comparison Function

The G900 has a watermark comparison function that allows you to display a previously captured image on the LCD monitor and use it as a template for a new image to be identically captured. The transparency level of the original image can be selected from 20%, 40%, 60% and 80%. It is also possible to display the two images side by side on the screen for immediate comparison. This mode can also be used to always capture images from the same perspective and record changes over time. This can be particularly useful for documenting development stages in a variety of applications, such as assessing work progress on construction sites or growth cycles.

Internal 6.5 GB memory

The G900 has an integrated memory of 6.5 GB and thus a capacity of up to 856 images in the highest resolution. The internal memory is not only useful if the memory card is not at hand or has been forgotten, but also to avoid the risk of unauthorized access if the memory card is lost.
