What is a Graphics Card?

A graphics card looks similar to a smaller version of the computer motherboard. As a chip, a graphic card is also a printed circuit board that features a processor, RAM, and other components. High quality graphics cards can considerably improve the visuals on your computer screens.
A Graphics card is also commonly referred to as a GPU graphics processing unit, however in reality the GPU is only a part of the graphics card. Asus, HP, MSI, Gigabyte, and Pny are the leading manufacturers of graphics cards for a work computer.
The processing power and sophistication of modern GPUs mean that graphics cards are one of the most complex and high performance components of any computer. Graphics cards can also perform a technique known as ray tracing.
Ray traced graphics are unbelievably realistic. Today, graphics cards with ray tracing capabilities are getting popular in video games to display cinema quality visuals in real time. Virtually, Nvidia and AMD are the leading brands of all types of graphics cards.
High end graphics cards perform all the basic tasks including delivering the ordinary graphics you use daily. They also deliver advanced 3D graphics in real time for computer games.
The two main types of graphics cards are as follows;

• Integrated
• Dedicated

There are many laptops that dont have a dedicated graphics card. Instead, they use integrated graphics, which share a memory with the CPU, and therefore, arent as powerful as dedicated graphics cards.
